Association of XbaI polymorphism of ApoB gene with lipid profile, risk factors and dietary pattern in coronary artery disease Egyptian rural and urban patients

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a complex disorder. It thought to be result of gene-gene and gene-environment interactions. was reported that XbaI polymorphism ApoB gene associated with CAD. However, the results were conflicting risk factors not fully studied in previous studies. Aim: estimate association lipid profile, dietary pattern CAD Egyptian population. Subjects Methods: This study conducted on 400 Egyptians (200 healthy subjects; 100 Rural Urban controls 200 patients; patients). patients diagnosed bases clinical angiographic assessment. Polymerase chain reaction – Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) used genotype gene. Results: The X+X+ frequency higher urban control versus subgroups. Multivariate analysis revealed male gender, hypertension, smoking, increased body mass index (BMI), high serum total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein (HDL-C) score unhealthy diet risk, while protective.
